London Fire Risk Assessments helps with the Greek Wild Fires!

London Fire Risk Assessments Managing Director Clive Lewis TIFireE once again offers his service to help prevent anymore wild Fires in his favourite holiday resort Vlastos Greece.

Vlastos is not very far from the tragic scene of Mati and last year Vlastos came very close to having an extreme Fire that could have wiped out the whole community. Thankfully for the residents of Vlastos and nearby Kalamos the wind changed direction and the community was saved from complete disaster.

Clive Lewis says ” Its all about prevention and changing mindsets – we must clear the common areas that are being used for dumping old garden rubbish and make house owners responsible for getting rid of their waste properly’. Clive put a team of volunteers together and it took 3 days to clear a common area that is situated right bang in the middle of a Residential area!

LFRA’s team are very proud of their MD who always leads by example and not worried about getting his hands dirty!! You can always contact London Fire Risk Assessments if you have any Fire Safety concerns call 01689 890879

Bank Holiday Weekend and it’s been confirmed the sun will be out! So time to get the BBQ’s out! Before you do – carry out a dynamic Fire Safety Risk Assessment and keep your family and friends safe!

Its not very often we have a Bank Holiday Weekend that promises the sunshine, so it is extremely likely that people will want to dust the old BBQ off and make the most of it! BUT there are considerations and here are just a few:

Traditional BBQ’s

  • Make sure your BBQ is well away from sheds, fences, trees, shrubs or garden waste.
  • Use enough charcoal to cover the base of the BBQ
  • Keep children, pets and garden games away from the cooking area
  • Empty ashes onto bare garden soil, not into dustbins or wheelie bins.
  • Never use petrol or paraffin to start or revive your BB
  • Always keep water nearby

Gas BBQ’s

  • Never store gas cylinders under the stairs
  • Store gas cylinders outside away from direct sunlight and frost
  • Make sure the tap is turned off before changing the gas cylinder
  • If you suspect a leak, turn off the gas cylinder and try brushing soapy water around all joints, watching for bubbles.
  • Change gas cylinders outdoors or in a well ventilated area

If you live in a London Purpose Built Block of Flats then you need to look at your Fire Safety Risk Assessment for the premise. Most Blocks of Flats do not allow the use of BBQ’s on the balconies because this would put the premise at High Risk.

London Fire Risk Assessments found a real treasure when carrying out the annual Fire Safety inspection of a Normandy Chateau in France – A new and ultra friendly Chambres d’hotes called “Les Babylones”

It is always a great joy to revisit our client in Normandy France – visiting a beautiful Chateau to carry out an annual Fire Safety Inspection is never hard work!

On this particular occasion London Fire Risk Assessments Managing Director Clive Lewis TIFireE was accompanied by one of the Administration Team to check on some co-ordinating works. As they were staying for a couple of days we needed to find them some good accommodation in the area!

Luckily, when we searched the internet, we came across a delightful Chambres d’hotes “Les Babylones”  – it had just opened so the timing was perfect!

The owners Kim and Pascale were a delight so accommodating and friendly -nothing was too much trouble for them – they even prepared a delicious meal on both nights when Clive and Kelly returned from  the Chateau. To be honest they were blown away by the quality of the food – 5 Star!!!

So if you looking for a first class  Chambres d’hotes in Normandy France visit “Les Babylones” and say “Hi” from London Fire Risk Assessments!
